Seeking to expand their offering of high-tech forensic solutions, the Amsterdam-based Forensic Technical Solutions (FTS) asked cosine to develop a hyperspectral imaging camera. The camera can be used at a crime scene by forensic scientists to quickly determine whether possible blood traces are indeed blood, and if so to determine their age. The age of the blood stains provides an indication of how long ago the crime took place.
cosine’s first hyperspectral imaging camera for forensic applications was successfully demonstrated at the 6th European Academy of Forensic Science Conference, held in The Hague from 20-24 August 2012.
