The framework collaboration agreement between cosine Italia and the Centro Servizi Metrologici e Tecnologici Avanzati (CeSMA) will enable both parties to expand and utilise the latest R&D and expertise from the University of Naples and cosine for potential future technology developments.
Since its foundation in 2011, the Italian subsidiary of cosine has been working to strengthen relationships with existing partners while also establishing collaborations with new Italian partners and research groups at various universities across Italy. In 2022 cosine Italia expanded its facilities in Benevento, and accelerated the expansion effort.
This agreement is part of the same development and expansion efforts of cosine Remote Sensing’s subsidiary in Italy.
The collaboration will look into R&D activities where the two organizations can strength each other in the field of development of electro-optical sensors, subsystems and on-board sensors for aerospace and aeronautical platforms, integrated sensor systems, sensor networks and related innovative technologies as well as the development of integrated hardware-software solutions and services for remote sensing and/or in-situ monitoring, for production quality monitoring, for environmental monitoring.
Dr Marco Esposito, managing director of cosine Italia, commented: “this collaboration will also enable cosine Italy to staff young and well educated engineers from the one of the world’s oldest academic institutions, the Federico II university, for the italian activities of the group, both on hardware as well as on software and applications development.”
Prof. Domenico Accardo, director of CeSMA, commented: “through this collaboration with cosine we expect CeSMA to be able to leverage the experience we have in house with the development of advanced testing and characterization methodologies, as well as the experimentation, integration and optimization of state-of-the-art enabling technologies in the metrology sector and beyond. This Agreement increases the commitment of CeSMA for the Aerospace and Remote Sensing applications.”
About CeSMA
CeSMA is a university centre at the University of Naples Federico II, one of the oldest in Italy and in Europe, that, similarly to cosine, acts as a bridge between the university and sectors of industry and enterprise requiring advanced measurement services and, more broadly, the development and testing of new technologies. The centre is structured to spin off technology into industry.
About cosine
cosine is a leading worldwide group of companies which develop space instrumentation, such as Silicon Pore Optics for astronomy and remote sensing solutions with onboard analytics for Earth Observation and planetary science. cosine combines physics and technology to bring out-of-the-box solutions to our clients. cosine has been developing and delivering innovative measurement systems for space and industrial applications since 1998. The group operates 1,300 m² of cleanrooms and high-tech assembly facilities to build and test the systems we produce for our customers at our headquarters in Sassenheim, The Netherlands, as well as at our subsidiaries location in Italy and Germany.
