cosine will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of ESA’s Basic Research and Development (R&D) activities, in Florence, Italy from 20 to 22 May 2025. Dr Marco Esposito, Managing Director of cosine Remote Sensing in the Netherlands and Italy, has been invited by ESA to participate in a panel discussion titled “The Role of ESA Technology Programmes for Industrial Innovation Competitiveness” scheduled for Wednesday, 21 May, from 14:45 to 15:45.
ESA’s 50th anniversary of Basic R&D celebrates the critical role of foundational research in advancing European space technologies and strengthening industrial capabilities. The event not only reflects on five decades of technological progress but also reinforces ESA’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence in space development.

Dr Marco Esposito, Managing Director of cosine Remote Sensing, has been invited to contribute to the session titled “The Role of ESA Technology Programmes for Industrial Innovation Competitiveness,” where he will discuss how ESA’s R&D initiatives have enabled technological breakthroughs and fostered industrial growth. Dr. Esposito will support the discussion on technologies developed through ESA programmes that have been exploited in international institutional and space missions—putting Europe at the forefront of global research and innovation.
