The German subsidiary, cosine GmbH, strengthens its presence in Germany with a new 650m2 facility in Berlin-Adlershof and a strategic cooperation with PTB, expanding its capabilities in X-ray optics and environmental testing.
The new site in Berlin-Adlershof will house new laboratory facilities and office spaces. An additional X-ray testing beamline and environmental testing facilities will also be installed to support the ongoing development of Silicon Pore Optics (SPO) Mirror Modules for the NewAthena mission as well as other customer.
To meet the demands of its growing operations, cosine’s German branch is hiring additional staff in Berlin. New team members will contribute to a variety of cutting-edge projects, helping the company’s mission to drive innovation in X-ray technology and space instrumentation.
cosine GmbH has also signed a cooperation agreement with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). This partnership includes the installation of two additional beamlines in the PTB laboratory at the BESSY II synchrotron in Berlin. This is part of the preparation for the production of the optics for the NewAthena telescope of the European Space Agency (ESA). These facilities will be accessible to cosine staff for testing advanced X-ray optics, increasing the company’s testing and development capacity.
This cooperation was also subject of a recent meeting between a delegation from the European Space Agency (ESA), cosine and PTB at BESSY II.
