Optics
cosine has built deep expertise in optical design over decades. We combine optical performance with an integrated, system-level approach, so instruments don’t just look good on paper, but work reliably in real-world conditions. Our optical work supports a wide range of applications, including telescopes, cameras, laser transmitter and receiver objectives, interferometric devices, spectrometers, and laser systems.
State-of-the-art
We use leading commercial optical design tools alongside in-house software to model, optimise, and validate performance using established theories of light. Our multidisciplinary teams, optics, electronics, and computational engineering, work together from concept through prototype.
Where needed, we integrate optomechanical design through in-house capabilities and trusted partners. System-level modelling such as thermal analysis and signal-to-noise performance is available to support confident design decisions.
Optimal facilities
cosine’s optical cleanrooms support precision metrology, breadboarding, calibration, and performance testing. For environmental validation, our thermal-vacuum capabilities allow components and instruments to be tested across extreme temperatures, from liquid nitrogen levels up to 200°C and beyond.
When required, our cleanroom environments can also support dedicated optical laboratory studies as part of your project.
